Heart-kun the Puppy

Awwww! I don't know about the err... head on this dog, but it's body sure is cute!

"Sure", I know you're all thinking... "So you can photochop, big deal!"
But nope, check it out, this dog was named "Heart-kun" after it was born with a perfect heart shaped bit of fur on it's back! Unsurprisingly, the dog was born in a litter of pups in Japan, home of all diabolically cute things. Who knows, maybe those crazy Japanese have gone one step further, and have started experimenting with gene modifications to produce this kind of "natural" cute... =/

There isn't a whole lot more to the story other than that, but you can read more about it here if you like.

Manifest 2007!!!

Yep, it's that time of year again! Better dust off your zany cosplay costumes or find your camera because Manifest is coming to Melbourne University this Friday the 14th September to Sunday the 16th September.

It's a great time to buy some anime warez, see some uncannily accurate costumes and get into anime culture. There'll also be karaoke, video game tournaments, DDR and some drawing classes to entertain you once the cosplay excitement wears off.

Early registration has already closed folks, so you'll need to show up at the door early and hope to get in. Entry is $30 for adults and $23 for children 15 and under, or you can opt for the weekend pass for $40 and $30 for adults and children respectively.

The event schedule is already up and can be viewed from www.manifest.org.au

Needless to say, I'm psyched and will be attending wearing my lovely Pacman hat. Hope to see you there!

Apple Unveils Its New iPod Line!

Apple launched its new iPod line just yesterday to crowds on anticipating fans. Their new line saw the release of the new model: the iPod Touch. The iPod Touch features a gorgeous 3.5 inch widescreen display, touch screen controls, and comes in 8GB and 16GB flavours priced at $419 and $549 respectively.

The older models, namely the Shuffle, the Nano and iPod Classic also got revamped. The iPod Shuffle still looks the same, except it sports new colours in its range and has had a price cut from $119 to $99 now.

The new iPod Nano looks similar to its predecessor - just a squatter version. The dimensions have been squished somewhat in efforts to reduce the length in comparison to the older models and also to accommodate a new wide screen display. The new iPod Nanos are available in 4GB and 8GB varieties in a range of new colours at $199 and $279 respectively.

Similarly, the iPod Video has had an update and now shares its sleek, shiny looks with its tiny twin, the iPod Nano. The new iPod is now called the iPod Classic, and is available in 80GB and a whopping 160GB version! No need to leave any of your collection at home folks, coz the new iPod Classic can pretty much hold anything you throw at it. The prices aren't too unreasonable either... Apple is asking $349 for the 80GB version and $479 for the 160GB version. Back when the iPod Video was first released, an 80GB iPod set you back $499! It's good to see Apple finally dropping their prices, though I suspect it's more to do with keeping a competitive edge rather than any goodwill on Apple's part.

Visit the Apple Store Australia to pick up one of these shiny new gadgets, or for more information.

Jay Jays 1UP Mushroom Tees!

You may remember a while back I did a post about Jay Jay's limited line of Nintendo gaming tees. Well, some new ones have come out and they look absolutely killer in a retro way so I had to snag me one!

I got the green shirt with the trademark Mario 1UP mushroom on it. I would prefer if the mushroom were a little smaller, but I guess you can't have everything!

If you had any doubts to the authenticity of this trade-marked tee, it even comes with an official Nintendo seal, so you can verify it if need be.

Though if you're that particular, I'd surmise that you're probably an anally pretentious bastard in your mid 50s using your personality as a contraceptive. You probably only own one fuddy duddy suit, a collection of polka dot ties and keep the hem of your pants suit a good 30cm off the ground. So, in any case, it's probably a good idea to get some new threads, so just shut the f*** up and buy em already, kay? You can thank me later...

Prepare For Armageddon!!!

Australia's taking its first steps into the world of pop culture with the coming of Melbourne's first fantasy and gaming event: the Armageddon Expo. The Armageddon Expo is showcasing all things 'pop culture' from video games, cartoons, comics, anime, wrestling and so on with some crazy stuff chucked in like a Dominoes pizza eating competition and pillow fights! Goddamn, there'll even be a Mattel toy sale there!!!

In addition to the line up events, a couple of pop culture celebrities will also be making an entrance. Adam West (the original Batman) will be there, along with Billy West (the voice behind Fry and Zoidberg from Futurama), Chris Rankin (who plays Percy Weasley from the Harry Potter films) and a couple of others.

The expo is being held in Melbourne at Exhibition Hall in Southbank just opposite Crown Casinos on the weekend of October the 13th and 14th. Single day passes and 2 day passes for this event can be bought from Ticketmaster. Single day pass costs $10 for a child and $16 for an adult, and 2 day passes can be had for $17 and $28 for children and adults respectively.

More information on the expo is available here.
