Guitar Hero: World Tour

Guitar Hero - the latest installment of rhythm-action games that seem to be all the range these days. It started off innocently with DDR, then catapulted to other popular titles such as Drummania, SingStar and Guitar Hero. The basic formula worked a treat, with all the aforementioned titles spawning sequels and spin-offs faster than an asian couple before China mandated the one child policy.

So yeah, the rhythm-action game market was getting a bit boring and was well overdue for a change. Cue Guitar Hero: World Tour. Released just a week ago on November the 12th, World Tour combines SingStar, Drummania and Guitar Hero into the one game!!! Neversoft's latest offering comes packaged with a microphone, guitar and a somewhat realistic drum controller to make all your high school band fantasies come true. 4 players can now play simultaneously (vocals, guitar, bass and drums) to simulate a true band experience. Are you excited yet? =p

However, the game doesn't come at a low cost. Most of the younger gamer market will baulk at the high $329.95 price tag which retailers are charging for the whole glorious package. Guitar Hero definitely is very pricey by most people's standards - you could pick up the base model of the Xbox 360 for this price! But the game does come with one very cool perk - contrary to the previous drum games that have been released, the Expert difficulty of the drums in World Tour is supposedly so realistic that it virtually imitates perfectly the drum track to the master recordings of the original song!!! In other words - if you can play through the Expert difficulty of the drums in Guitar Hero: World Tour, you can just about play the drums for real! Pretty cool, eh?

Latest reports of the game indicate that Guitar Hero has finally ported to the arcade domain instead of being shackled down to home console owners. Masters of the game will finally be able to strut their stuff out in public and pit themselves head to head in the arcade arena! Rock on!
